Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-D Low Voltage at Coil

Good morning folks, need some help chasing an issue on a friends boat.

Volvo penta 3.0 GLP-D on a 2006 Stingray 180RX had a no start condition. Ignition coil is new as well as wires and distributor. Measured voltage coming into coil and it was 2.8 volts. Jumped coil to battery positive and engine fired right up. All fuses are fine and we swapped the relay with a known working one. Any ideas where to look next? Is it time to tear down the wire harness and trace the wires? Manual suggests that the board is shorted.

Thanks folks!

Sounds like you need to check the wiring and components in the ignition circuit...I'd say start at the ignition switch and make sure it has battery voltage at the BAT terminal. If good, make sure the switch will pass adequate current to the IGN terminal when its in the RUN position...a test lamp with a bulb (drawing at least a full amp) is better than just a voltmeter...

Ayuh,.... I'd start by cleaning both ends of both battery cables to shiny metal,.....
Then chase the ignition circuit to find the drop,....
