Velvet Drive 71C question

I am currently experiencing a problem with my Velvet Drive transmission. I can start engine in neutral, but when selecting either forward, or reverse, the engine stalls. Is it possible that the neutral safety switch is the culprit ?
 
If it starts in neutral, the switch may be at fault or may not be wired properly.

if it stalls in gear and the engine is in good shape, see if the shaft will rotate by hand.
