It shouldn't matter- if the combustible fumes are introduced to the air box, they'll all get some.I will try that next time. It has three carbs
The mechanic I use put new needles and seats said I they look great. Runs great on the trailer. It on throws a fit on the water after fishing for a while. It shouldn't matter- if the combustible fumes are introduced to the air box, they'll all get some.
Have you synchronized the carbs or made adjustments to any of them?
What about the floats? And he synchronized the carbs after the needles & seats? did he do anything else? Shops have different policies and the last place I worked for required full rebuild, including ultrasonic cleaning. The mechanic I use put new needles and seats said I they look great. Also I can smell gas’s after fishing for a while. That’s why I was thinking vapor lock
I’ve tried everything on making it start faster and the best results is trimmed almost all the way up and then when it starts and you trim it down it’s to keep it the rpm’s up until it clears out and levels off. And always a lot of smoke involved.Vapor lock is caused by fuel supply interruption- if you smell gas, it sounds like the carbs are leaky- next time, open the throttle when you try to start it- if it's flooded, it should be easier to start.
What color is the smoke? If it smells like gasoline, the carbs are probably not adjusted correctly. The use of 'clears out' tells me 'set too rich' or 'leaking into the intake'- did you see the work being done? To do this properly, the carbs need to be balanced, as I posted. Also, the screws for allowing fuel into the carbs need to be adjusted according to the manual- these aren't optional and they aren't going to adjust themselves.I’ve tried everything on making it start faster and the best results is trimmed almost all the way up and then when it starts and you trim it down it’s to keep it the rpm’s up until it clears out and levels off.
