Transmission cooler

I have 2 454 XLI 1997 crusader

I have 2 454 XLI 1997 crusader engines in my 1986 34 ft Tollycraft. I have direct drive trans not v drives. They both have cooling units with pencil zincs at the front of the engines. One engine the cooling unit has a salt deposit coming out of the top of the unit. It is not leaking badly but when running at 3000 rpms for 3 hours an alarm goes off and the engines slow down to 1500 rpms. The oil pressure is alway good and the water temp is fine ( these are not raw water cooled).I was told the units were simple to change and not worth rebuilding (if they could be ?) Has anyone replaced or rebuilt theirs? Is there a part no.?How do I remove and replace them ( the job looks fairly simple) Anything to watch out for.Any help would be great
Thanks John

"98570 is the Crusader PN, retail price is $268.95. I would take them off and take them to a radiator shop, they can clean and repair them for much less than that.

There are three things that will put you into RPM reduction. Oil pressure, coolant temp and trans temp. RPM reduction is 2500 I don't know why you are dropping to 1500.

Let us know how you make out."
