Throttle cam roller j115glecm

Need some shade tree ingenuity if anybody has any until the new parts arrive. The clear sleeve that's on the throttle cam roller disintegrated today and I was wondering if anyone had a quick fix to the problem until my new ones come in or is it even that big of a deal? Will a piece of hose from the parts store work and if so what diameter? I couldn't find just the sleeve so I ordered two of the whole thing from here. Part # was 0432639.

Local machine shop.----Make it out of wooden dowel / brass / plastic / delrin / phenolic / stainless.-----Wrap tape around it ?---- Epoxy / fiberglass strands.

I read somewhere that there was a tubing that you could use on it until the parts come in but can't find the thread now and don't remember id and od. The dowel seems like alot of work for however long it's gonna take to get the parts in but I do appreciate the input
