Paul and Racerone, thanks for the help. I just put the 6 HP carb on and it runs great. It will now idle easily at 1250-1300 RPM. The RPMs are much more stable now and fluctuate very little. The motor is also smoother vibration wise. I'll admit, I had a hard time believing it was the carburetor. I would like to tell everyone that what you guys said about these carbs being hard to clean is absolutely true. Three times I completely disassembled the carb, soaked it overnight in carb medic, poked the jets and orifices with wire, blew everything out with air, checked the float, etc. It got a little better each time but still wouldn't stay running at idle. I even checked the valves and ignition timing. Replaced the carb and voila! The up side of this is that I know the motor much better and now own a manual, a tach and a timing light. And I plan to be much better about the fuel I feed it! This is really a great forum. Thanks again, Harry
