I am pretty sure it is impedence. A dual station uses a different sender to accurately supply BOTH instruments on each dash with correct readings. It is basically a calibrated ohmeter. It reads resistance converted from temps.

"I would like to remove the lower helm station on our boat. AT THE DOCK, it is difficult to see what you are doing in close quarters as the nose extends out and upwards. On PLANE, you can't see anything but the horizon when you dip between swells..it is poorly planned.. I do see a few Ocean Yachts and an Egg Harbor in our Toms River area that have helms mounted outside and down on the cockpit aft bulkhead.

THE ONLY reason we are going to keep the lower helm is that we are in TUCKERTON, NJ....GREEN HEAD FLY CAPITOL of the world !

This way, until we get away from the salt marsh and into the ocean, we can all hide inside with the A/C running and slow maneuvering thru those canals."

Our boat had a similar problem

Our boat had a similar problem with lower helm visibility. The answer was to raise the helmsman's chair until one's head is nearly touching the cabin roof. Another 'fix' was to remove some the vertical railings at the anchor pulpit--they weren't all that necessary--which removed the "looking through a bunch of trees" effect.

Jeff

PS: You're dead on about those N J greenheads. They've been known to carry small people away!

dual station senders show halv

dual station senders show halve the impedance a single station sender shows for a given temperature.
