tapping noise

hello guys i have a 454 xl mid 90's. started it to put in antifreeze ran perfect for 5 minutes heard a tapping sound for 3 seconds it then went away .after a minute it did it again for 2or 3 seconds and went away. the third time it came back and stayed this all happened at idle spend oil was good would a good guess be sticky lifter if so what is the best fix thanks

Sticking lifter. DON'T rev the heck out of it when this happens, and the noise will gradually go away.

Mr. Starboard does that to me regularly.

thanks for the reply jeff do you think i should put any of them additives in it to help it let go. if so what one do you think would be best p.s thanks a milllion for the reply

Does it sound like a lifter tapping? I have seen grounding of spark plug wires make a tapping sound check in the dark!

Me too! Tore down a Caddy V-8 once to "replace its noisy lifters' when it was bad ignition wires. Was I embarrassed!
