Tach for small outboards

"I have three outboards I want

"I have three outboards I want to check with a tach (might re-prop, etc.). They're an Evin 1979 9.9, 1992 15 and 1996 25. This is one of the very few times I need a tach for these motors and I'm wondering what sort of multiple-purpose tool I might use to check the rpm. For instance can I use a dwell tach for a 4 cyl. and divide (or multiply) the result? I could bother a marina, but I have a few props and I'm not likely to buy anything from them (doesn't seem fair), though maybe they'd rent me one or something. Any help or ideas are wanted.

"You could use the 4 cylinder

"You could use the 4 cylinder tach/dwell meter, it will indeed read 1/2 of actual speed reading off 1 set of points on a 2 cylinder 2 cycle engine. (assuming this is a magneto - points type engine.)"
