So i recently received a seized up 97 mariner 2.5 hp 2 stroke outboard that was headed for the trash. I brought it home and began soaking the cylinder. After a week the flywheel still wouldnt budge. So i decided to go all in on this little motor. I pulled the cylinder and case apart and found my issue of seized bearings. I soaked everything and to my surprise corrosion hadnt set in. It was just gunked up. So once all pieces were clean and working properly i reassembled. I also disassembled and cleaed the carb. Once she was all set i checked for spark and there was none. I quickly found the kill button as the culprit and temporarily bypassed it. Now i have spark. I then cleaned the tank and added fresh gas at 50.1 ratio. I pulled untill my arm is sore. It has cranked and ran for 30 seconds and died once. I checked and replaced my spark plug. The plug continues to be dry. I have pulled the carb once more and thoroughly cleaned it. The plug is still dry. Please help any other suggestions. This is my first boat motor repair and may be my last. Thanks in advance
