"I have been trying to start a 2003 MEFI 5.7L, on blocks, on land. Before I hook up water and fuel I first tried to turn it over. I have an instrument panel with ignition switch and a wiring harness. My first attempt resulted in the starter just clicking. I removed it,did some trouble shooting, had it checked by an electrical shop and replaced it today. The starter works fine, the motor turns over, but I had to run a wire from the ignition directly to the solenoid to do so. The lead from the harness female plug on the motor, to the terminal on the starter is not working. I have continuity from the ignition start position terminal through the harness to the male prong on the other end of the harness. I do not have continuity from the corresponding female socket on the plug mounted on the motor, to the end of the wire attached to the solenoid. My question: Could a fuse or fusable link been blown somewhere along that circuit? Could applying voltage to a frozen starter blow a fuse? Tracing the wire from the solenoid - it gets lost behind the heat exchanger and I believe goes into the motor wiring harness. I think it is highly unlikely the wire just "broke" between yesterday and today. Thanks all."
