"I remember the Split Fire infomercials but was hesitant to try them on the boat.
In the Marina, saw someone with an outboard installing NGK's Version.
Two Questions:
1) Could anyone tell me if it is worth changing?
2) Do you know the proper gap (adjusted for the Split Spark vs. the standard single prong generated spark)?

"Spitfire is snake oil. Several approaches have been used over the years to promote better ignition but it involved major engineering changes to the entire ignition system just to get a small increase in performance.

To put it simply, there is no "super plug" out there. The name brands are all competitive and very good (Champion, Autolite, AC, Bosch, NGK). If you asked me among the brand names which brand is the finest, I'd say NGK among the production plugs but that would be spliting hairs and not worth spending any effort or money over.

The gap is determined by the capacity of the ignition system and is not the plug itself."
