"Went to use boat today but the motor would not shift into reverse. Motor was also difficult to shift into drive, but with some effort it would go into drive. Last used boat two weeks ago with no problems. We have had very cold weather (for us) with lows in teens, boat was exposed in boat lift. Could this have impact on shift? Earlier post talked about adjusting shift linkage. How and where. Shift lever is on tiller arm of motor. Any help will be appreciated"
 
Get the engine into a warm are

Get the engine into a warm area for a bit and see if your problem goes away. Might just be frozen water trapped somewhere that it interfears with your shift.

you can unhook the shift cable and try by hand first
 
Do not think that any water co

Do not think that any water could still be froozen as the temperatures have warmed up into the 50-60's and the boat has been on the open hoist in these conditions.
