Reverse bang after engaged

Volvo Penta----5.7 . Engage reverse, prop spins ok, give a little throttle and bang noise? Just one bang, not repeated, and it remains functional in reverse....

Clutch isn't fully engaging and more rpm causes it to finish
Are you using the correct gear lube and when was last time lube was changed?

Check adjustment procedure for reverse... Remove back cover and check for full motion of shift rocker arm.

Also... rpm @ idle and shift should not exceed 650RPM
