Repowering with DF150ATL - Any Suggestions

Hey gang. I've been a long time Marineengine member and have mostly lived in the Johnson/Evinrude forum. My 1996 Rude 150 runs like a top, but I'm taking the opportunity to get a good resale price on it and take advantage of current Suzuki rebates and warranty to repower my Ranger bass boat with a 2026 DF150ATL.

Everything I've ready about Zukes has been good which is what drove my decision. I'm just curious, are there any suggestions you all have for the repower? Gauges, fitment, or any other little details that come to mind? For the basic install I was going to replace my dash 3.5" Evinrude tach and 2" trim gauges for Suzuki compatible units. I have a Humminbird G4N graph on the dash, so I'm thinking about getting the NEMA2000 adapter for the Zuke and running that to my graph to show all engine details rather than getting the Suzuki digital gauge.

Thanks.

My twin and I both repowered our boats last spring with new Suzi's DF140s and we are really happy with them. We've both setup a NMEA network to display the engine info on our Garmins or Humminbirds. It's the way to go for sure. I'd never done it, but it was pretty straight forward and easy to do. The Suzi's run strong and are really awesome, and fuel efficient too; and after the dealer did the original install and his test run, I've never had to prime the bulb at all -- she starts right up.

I definitely recommend the NMEA connection -- it's great. We both also got the Suzi multi-function gauge which works well. Mine's not a bass boat, so I do use the Troll Mode option and that's a neat feature.

Excellent, thanks for the info. I'm really looking forward to the increased fuel economy. I love the old Evinrude, but that thing guzzles fuel and I'd like to have the ability to run multiple fishing trips before needing to refill the tanks.

Oh -- to add -- I strongly suggest that you DO get the Suzuki Multi-function gauge; the ability to see other engine parameters on your NMEA connected device is nice as well, but we find that the Suzuki gauge is really awesome to have. It's the primary gauge we used for speed, tilt and tach -- and on my boat, for the "trolling mode" too (my twin doesn't use that). It will replace your tach -- but has so much more info on it -- we think it's really worth the extra $$. (I think we paid $300 or so for the gauge, and we got huge discounts on trading in our old smoky 2-strokes).
