Shut off still closed? (Ah-hem!)

If you have a mechanicl pump--and the fuel filter is located before it (bad idea)--sometimes it takes a while.

"I had this happen on my 1986 Crusaders a few years ago. Vapor lock! Loosen the canister holding the filter to "burp" the line. That solved my problem. Also check that the shut off is now reopened. I did that once too, but don't tell anyone."

"I had exactly the same problem after I cleaned out my fuel filter, I primed it with Sea Foam and re-installed it, it ran for 2 minutes then died, wouldn't restart at all, when I pulled off the filter it was bone dry. I just happened to nudge the supply hose and found it was loose. The pump was sucking air, but the motor wouldn't run on it unfortunately. Tightened up the hose and she started like a charm and been ok since.

"Well I recon everyone has a similar experience. Mine was a spin on canister. I didn't get the canister tight enough and it leaked air at the gasket. When I opened the filter thinking it was going to have water in it, I found it was half full of air. Hand tight was not tight enough.

"Did you replaced the fuel filter because you were already having problems? How old are your fuel lines, they can weaken and collapse, another proplem could be varnish in the tank disolved by that wonderful e10 gas, that can clog a line. Hopefully it is just the air leak. Do you have only one tank? Ifnot try switching tanks."
