No Fire bad battery

"I have a 1981 merc inline 6 1

"I have a 1981 merc inline 6 115hp. I just replaced the switchboxes because I wasn't getting fire from the lower switchbox. I am now not getting any fire on any of the plugs. Could it be my battery isn't turning the motor over fast enough to create fire? This battery is 4.5 years old. This is the only thing I can think of without going to a merc repair guy. I am taking the battery out tonite to have it tested. Just looking for other solutions, if any"

That was it. Put batte

That was it. Put battery on charge for a couple of days and it was turning the motor over faster and wham, it started right up. I am checking the motor tonite to be sure all 6 cylinders are firing.
