Nissan NS25C2 Tiller Support Parts

I have just inherited a boat from my wive's family and it has a Nissan Outboard on it. I am not very good with these types of motors but I have a broken piece on it and I was wondering if anyone knew the part that it was. I have attached some pictures with the broken part and also the motor type. It is the piece that the Tiller attached to.

Picture from right under the tiller handle on the left side. The cracked piece is around where the gear shaft comes down.
