Need some help with a possible fuel issue.

I'm having some trouble getting this 90hp johnson(J90TLEOR) to fire up. The only way I can get it to start is to spray some premix in the carbs. I thought it was the leaking primer solenoid lever so i replaced it. No luck. The fuel is coming from a clean small tank. Everything seems to be fine all the way to the carbs. The primer is getting fuel into the carbs. I have drained them 3 times now just to make sure. Im kind of unsure on the process from there. After I spray the premix in it will idle fine and run normal. I can restart it no problem for hours. Next day its back to spraying the premix. I guess I'm just looking for some ideas on what I can check next. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Thanks guys.

Out line YOUR starting procedure.--Does the electric primer click when you push in the key ?---What is the compression on the 4 cylinders ?--------Does spark jump a gap of 7/16" on all 4 ??---------------A slow cranking starter will also affect starting of these motors.

Compression is good on all 4, the primer clicks and shoots a heck of a stream out of each hose, I have yet to verify spark but I'm going to assume its ok as it snaps to life with a few squirts in the carbs.

Compression is good on all 4, primer clicks and discharges fuel(pulled both lines to verify),have yet to check spark jump, cranking doesnt seem slow. The thing pops right on if I squirt the premix in the carbs. I have tried pumping with the red lever in the manual position with no results.the bulb gets hard, there seems to be a ton of pressure in the fuel lines. If its on the manual position couldnt you essentially pump as mush fuel as you wanted without all of that pressure build up?

If all the things that racerone mentioned work, then check the fuel pump.
If the pump pressure is to low the carburateurs cant give enoughe fuel while starting.
Is it a mechanic or pressure pump?

Remove small hose from the primer at the top carburetor ----------Prime bulb on hose.-------Turn key to " on " and push in.------What do you see ?

If the carburetors have been off recently, I'd suspect the wrong carb to intake manifold gaskets have been installed (no fuel primer thru hole).

Thanks guys. Yesterday I pulled the carbs off, the gaskets I put on at the end of last season had no hole punched to let the gas in the manifold! Cheap easy fix!
