"hey, i have a 1980's merc

"hey, i have a 1980's mercury black max 200 outboard. the motor has sat through the winter with a full tank of gas and now when i tried to start it, it will turn over start and run for a little but it sounds like it on choke the whole time and will eventually cut out. is there a way to maybe adjust the fuel mixture or can anyone think of other problems that might cause this."

"sorry about posting twice in the same day but i got my boat running today but i realized when it ran there is no neutral. the prop is spinning from the second the motor is running even though its in neutral. even when it is shifted into reverse the prop only spins forward. i dont know what this could be, im just hoping there is an easier fix other than putting a new lower unit on thanks for any help"

I had an in-line 6 that did that the problem was in the shift rod alinement.This happened after the lower unit was off and then put on. Try dropping the lower unit and putting it in neutral then put it back on.Good luck.
