"Hi all,
For one of the few times in my life, I am trying to head off a problem before I create it!
In a two engine inboard, I will be replacing one engine. The remaining engine is a 350 older style (1986-95) so is rated at 260-270 hp.It only has about 300 hrs on it, so is not a prime candidate for replacement. If I put in a new 350 vortec rated at 300 hp will I be shooting myself in the wallet and elsewhere. My understanding is that the newer engines' best performance is at a higher rpm than the older ones. Will synching be a nightmare. Option of replacing both engines has been vetoed by 'the Commanderess". Would I be better off replacing with a simialrly rated engine? thanks much for your thoughts.
Dave"
