Merc 90 2-stroke issues

launched the boat today, ran great to first brushpile. went to leave motor wouldn’t hardly start, finally got it going and it would not go, it would bog itself until it cut off…idling was very poor. finally got to the point it wouldn’t crank at all, had to troll back to boat ramp… what would go bad so fast? i didn’t spend 30 minutes at my first stop…i got home, primer bulb still tight, and motor did crank. very sputtery and backfiring while on muffs though. any thoughts would be appreciated…the motor is a 2005 2-stroke, 3 cylinder, 90hp…thanks in advance

Tell us about your fuel and last time you used your boat. Like when was the last time you gassed up, what kind of gas, any preservatives....when was the last time you used your boat?

filled up yesterday from the same gas station i always use. small town rural country town…. no doubt it’s the same fuel i got last time. i have already kinda thought about this…
