Hello
After I disassembled the lower unit I noticed that water with rust came out of it. After a pressure test I noticed that the gasket from the transmission shaft was broken. After I replaced it and did an 18 psi leak test and also put it in a barrel with water the test did not indicate an air leak.
After that I filled with water again and let the engine work in gear when I drained the oil once more the oil came out the same color and there seemed to be signs of water ingress
I did a pressure test again and everything seemed fine.
what did i miss Where does the water come from?
The engine is an engine that has been standing for quite a long time and was neglected, could there be excess water and dirt left in the lower unit? I haven't disassembled the flapper and bearings yet.
The vacuum test seals are also checked.
I would be happy to help with the problem.
Thank you :)

It may be necessary to fill the gear housing with alcohol to remove the old water, and then rinse it out with some clean oil before refilling it. Also, rust is not good for gears. Remember to rub some of the oil between your fingers to feel for metal shavings when draining your old oil.
