My girlfriend purchase a JC Craft with a Marine 40hp 4cyl 2 stroke s/n 0611992. It's been runing like a champ but this past weekend she and her son took it out and it had been runing fine. When they when to start it to head back to the ramp they noticed a puff of smoke from the console and then it wouldn't start. Turns over but no spark. She also told me they were getting shocked because they where out getting some scollops making the floor wet. So with that I pulled some of the main wire cable from the concole where they seen the smoke and I found a spot about 6" taped up. I pulled the tape off and found some bad spots on the wires,splices them and taped them all back. I'm thinking that the short burned out something on the motor but I've looked for a fuse and only found the 20amp fuse which is for the started. Need some help on this as far as where to start looking next. Any help on this would be welcomed.
