I recently purchased a Mariner

I recently purchased a Mariner 25hp outboard SN#695S021323 Japan with a Stainless Steel prop. Motor idles and runs great. I paid $800 for the motor and was wondering what year model it is and did I pay too much?

The price is normally determined by the condition of the motor and it's popularity. You will often find a 9.9 sells for more than a 100 horse of the same vintage.

If your motor runs well, has been maintained and is cosmetically in decent shape, then the price you paid would be considered towards the high end of "normal" for that particular model. I would expect those to sell in the 500-1000 range - again, depending on condition..."
