newbie needs help. my 1990 mercruiser 4.3l alpha one trim pump fried in the water. i noticed coming in boat seemed to be riding high.trim would lift but not lower.got into slip found wiring rotted going into outdrive. i need to get motor down so i can get to dock.cant locate manual release valve

the wiring going to the outdrive controls the "up" function only and the sender for the gauge.
Down is direct from the button to the down solenoid(green wire).
Take a jumper from the + battery to the green motor wire. drive should lower .To raise the drive touch jumper to the blue motor wire

If all else fails remove the 2 hyd lines from the pump and the drive should lower, messy but will work.
To raise it for trailering you need a rope under the trim tab and pull

Simply loosen one or both of the hydraulic lines going into the pump enough so when someone puts pressure on the drive in the down direction it will bleed fluid out the loose fittings. make sure you have good absorbent rags so no oil gets into bilge

Make sure you tighten them up afterwards and refill reservoir with power steering fluid (level is checked with trim rams fully closed (drive all the way down)

thank you.thought loosening lines would work.wasnt sure if there is a manual release valve or not.oildyne pump with plastic resevoir
