"My Volvo Penta with 111 hours

"My Volvo Penta with 111 hours hydrolocked and would not start. I did not know why the starter could not turn the motor over. The dealer initially thaought the problem was the starter, let it sit for a week, then pulled the heads after finding water in the oil and cylinders. Heads, head gasket checked out OK I'm told the engine "ran backwards" and pulled water into the engine. It never started, was still on the trailer. Not sure how an engine can run backwards, or why? Volvo says they won't cover - no defective parts. Any ideas how this happened? Cylinders rusty, plan is to sand the cylinders with Emery cloth. Scares me!"
