Modern oils don't need additives, with the possible exception of additional zinc and phosphorus which have been reduced in oils in the last decade. Modern engines have been design to accomodate this, old 454's were not, with their flat tappets, non-roller rockers, and high shear oil pumps.[/QUOTE
When did Crusader stop utilizing the flat tappets, non roller rockers, and high shear oil pumps in their 454's?

I think I found Delo an option... $12 a gal at Walmart and Delo 400 LE 15w40 has the zinc and phospous levels we need to for flat tappets, non roller rockers, so no additives needed.
