hi my out board hasnt been r

hi my out board hasnt been run for around 5 yrs it has compression and spark. i have cleaned the carby several times . the motor fire's now and again the plugs arnt oiling up or wet i seem to have a problem getting fuel from the carby to the cylinders .any sudjestion would be great

yep i agree but i have had

yep i agree but i have had this motor going for short oeriods ..seconds rather than minuts... checking water pump etc ...replaced water pump .. got motor going again .. now fails to start ... could the temp warning light have something to do with problem .it is stuck on red ..

been there done all that ...i am sure this is a lack of fuel problem ..have tried spraying fuel into carb.. nothing..have even tried the engine start ..nothing .. fuel is just not getting to cylinders..will try looking at reed valves when daylight finaly gets here

Did it run 5 years ago when it was put into storage? You should do a compression test before you go any further...Is the fuel new and what ratio is it mixed at? Crankshaft seals??? It's hard to intelligently guess until the compression test is done

ok yes it was running when

ok yes it was running when put into storage ..it has been running for a short time since seconds rather than minutes when i tested the water pump..installed new water pump .. had the motor going again to test water pump ..it was sucessfull . now wont start at all but does fire now and again i have stripped the carby down yet again and rebuilt it ...some parts for this carby are unavailable in nz ..compression seems to be good lumpy motor ..compression tester i used was faulty .. no oil around points etc from uper crank seal .. the motor looks like new very tidy but i do realise looks arnt everything .. new fuel in tanks fuel is mixed as owners manual states 50-1 motor has never been used in salt water..and has had very little use for its age

ok heres progress i think th

ok heres progress i think the crank seal have failed thats all i can think of now .local johnson dealer say at least $1500 to fix but says some parts will be unavailable ...so they realy want me to buy a new motor ...will get somebody else to look at it
 
ok update spark jumps at l

ok update spark jumps at least 1/4 inch closer to 1/2 inch compression in both cylinders with motor cold and dry cylinders 100psi on both cylinders havent taken off by pass covers as yet ..is there anything that could leak behind them
