"Had a corroded connector to my high pressure side of the fuel pump on my 2005 Volvo 5.0 OSi-E which left me stranded. Cleaned the connector and replaced the fuel filter (starts and runs fine now), but now I am getting a very noticeable whine from the high pressure side (which is new or much worse than it was). Don't want to roll the dice or get stranded again.....is the whining and indication of a imminent fuel pump failure?

Thanks."

"Tom, I think your answer is within your question. The whining noise may very well be an indicator like you suggested. So here's one for you;

What if you were to buy a new pump? There are several on auction (e-Bay) for under $160 right now!
Seal it from exposure to the eliments and keep it on board with the tools necessary to change it? Or change it now! (my choice)
