I was recently given a boat with a 90hp 2 stroke 4 cyl Johnson, year 2000. The motor has been used sporadically for the past 10 years, I'd say it averaged 3 trips per year and didn't make it to the water at all in 2019 or 2020. It has been winterized every year (fogged, lower unit oil changed), and in fall of 2018, its last ride, it fired right up. We ran sea foam in the tank in that trip, and I think the tank still has about 10-15 gal of 2 yr old gas.
Just want to get your opinions or suggestions on what you'd do with the motor before I get it out in the water in spring 2021.
Bonus question; the wife and I are going to look soon for a used car to haul it. We are looking for the most fuel efficient car or wagon or SUV. Outboard is about 375 lbs, boats about 1,100 lbs. Trailer is normal trailer weight I'd guess. We are thinking about a Subaru Outback, any other suggestions?
