Ignition Problem 1989 60HP Mariner

I was cruising with my 1989 Mariner 60 HP outboard at about 3/4 throttle when suddenly, without my touching any controls, the engine RPMs dropped to what seemed to be near idle speed for a few seconds, and then the motor quit completely. It will turn over but not start. There were no warning signs of any sort that the motor may have ignition problems. I have determined that I have no spark. Does anyone have any suggestions about what the highest probability problems are that I should test for?

No easy, obvious source. You need to see if the stator and trigger coils are okay (test with an ohm meter). But before you do that, disconnect the black/ yellow tracer wire from the switch box and see if that's the problem.
