I really miss the Crusader Forum

I still read the Crusader Forum after selling my vessel with twin 454's. Bought a 27' CC with twin Suzukis but it's just not the same. Yeah I save a bunch of loot on summer dockage, winter storage, shrink wrap, winterization, fuel, and even bandages to cover cuts and bruises acquired from crawling around those Crusaders, but I find outboards boring (I guess I'm nuts!!!!!). Nice guys on the Suzuki forum but no where near as knowledgeable. Saw a real nice Luhr's 32' Tournament for sale (my all time favorite boat) yesterday with twin 350 Crusaders (thought that was a little odd). Talked to the guy and found that the asking price was more than reasonable with plenty of room for negotiation. Mentioned it to the wife, and all H*ll broke loose. Don't get me wrong, CC's with outboards are OK, but just not the same as a Sportfisherman with twin Crusaders. I was thinking that I may just mention to my wife that I now no longer have an opportunity to put to use all the "stuff" I learned on the Crusader Forum. Do you think I'm playing with fire???????????????

Narw! I know lots of people who remain on their old forum though now without their old boat.

Your knowledge can still help others.

Glad you are thinking of returning from the dark side. My "wife list" on a similar sized vessel to the Luhrs included a "real" head, a sink for clean up, a gen set (for the margarita blender), and a place to lay down out of the sun. Those were the things that took the CC out of contention. And yes, you are playing with fire.

I have a luhrs 32 covertible with 454s. A fun boat, go for it! Soft ride, 19-20 knots with 3/4 tanks at 3200, 3400 the boat gallops (and better mpg) at 23.5 knots all day long. Genny, ice maker, sat tv, AC, big stateroom, big head, nice bridge for 4-5....
 
I hear ya on the band-aids and bruises. I changed out a fuel line on my port side crusader 220 last weekend and it was hellish crawling on the outer side of the engine. I am 6'1' and I came out of there with bruises on both my arms.. still fun though.
 
Good point. When I see these giant outboards on cruisers I often forget the advantage they present regarding maintenance access. A trip into my bilge reminds me, however!

Makes me smile...Ain't been in the boat in a while... Playing with fire? You have a choice ....One wife....one life. Its hard to compromise but maybe she will ...:rolleyes:
 
I've got a beautiful Tiara 31 for sale with Crusader 454s and ready to make a deal as have new boat under contract. Let me know if any interest!
