How old would this motor be?

I was sent this photo by a friend, looking to buy a fishing boat. It’s the only info I have. Can anyone tell me the approximate age from the cowl?

Post picture of side of motor.----What power ?----Serial # should be on a plate visible below the steering bar.

Disregard, further investigation showed a motor in poor condition.

Make an appropriate offer and get motor repaired.----Looks like the motor is a 50 hp around the 1980 model year.

I've got a 1977 Merc 500 with electronic ignition that looks like that. Excellent motor. This may be the same. Defintetely something to look into.

Turned out the boat was a bust. Soft floors.
