honda 150hp water flush fitting

I have a 150hp honda outboard(2011) and when I cnnect a hose to flush the motor it doesn't allow water to flow thru engine and out the lower unit as it should, is there a check valve that could be stuck closed?

Yes, there is a check valve at the point that the hose connects to the engine. It is held on with one bolt. It should be easy enough to remove and clean out...or to replace the necessary parts.
