Helping My Dad on BF115A

Hi all,

My dad lives a few hours away. Last month I went down and worked on his boat for him. It is not pumping fuel out of the high pressure fuel pump. I am trying to buy him a new pump but cannot find one. He had a stroke so he can't really help me. The motor is a 2000 BF115A. Serial number might be BZBD 1100444. Can anyone help?

Go to www.boats.net, click on "Honda", click on "Outboards", click on BF115, click on the appropriate year, and look for fuel pump or VST. They have good prices and fast shipping.

They don't sell just the pump. You have to buy the reservoir and everything for $1,000.

I can't tell you if the pump is pulse width modulated (PWM) or not but, if it ISN'T, I would try finding a Carter pump that I could booch in there instead.

The $1000 fuel pump is the VST complete upgrade kit(06167 ZW5 305 or 335 or 345) from the old style to the newer style.
If you already have the upgraded kit installed, the pump #36 is $372

It's still $600. I like jgmo's idea. Does anyone know if the original pump is PWM? Has anyone installed a Carter pump?

I bit the bullet and bought the upgrade kit. Boatsnet wanted close to $1,000. I got it from hondaofsouthgeorgia for $699. This looks like a straight forward job. If anyone has done it and has some pointers, I would appreciate learning them.
