I have a 1985 searay,omc,i/o,v6,gm engine. I want to change my oil but I am having trouble getting the oil filter off, which way do I turn it ? I don't want to snap anything off.
Thanks

Yes..... standard RH Threads, so if this is an OEM engine mounted filter, then rotate the filter CW if looking down on it.
Be sure to use a high quality filter wrench.

Suggestion: Always warm the engine first!
This will offer you two things:
Allows the filter to loosen more easily.... and the oil to be extracted more easily.

The third thing is...., that it may burn your hands! :)
But here's the trick if that third one is an issue.
Warm engine, loosen filter only..... then extract oil while it is warm and thin.
You can even add the new oil, while the filter is cooling down.
Come back later and remove/replace the filter cartridge when it is not quite as hot.
Make certain that the old gasket was removed with the old filter.
Be sure to "Pre-Fill" the new filter cartridge approximately 85% or so.
Oil the surface of the new rubber sealing gasket.
Install, start, check for leaks... check oil level..... done!

you will find that if you warm your engine it will make the change quicker but just crack the filter loose while hot but leave the filter cool before completely loosing seal contact as it is very difficult to remove without spilling while hot. the oil will shrink when cooled making it easy to do without making a mess.
