Have the S/N but no luck finding motor identity

I was told it is an '81 but ive had no luck when i lookup the s/n. Its a 60E, so electric start short shaft, #309507. I would just like to be sure before ordering any more parts

Do you see a 675 or 6F0 on the serial number ID tag too?

A serial number search of your engine suggested your engine to be an 1977 60-HP [EL] Model number 7060527.

But that doesn't seem correct as the Marine Engine Look-Up Guide For Mariner suggests closer to 1981.

Yes, I should have included that, it does have model 675 on the plate. It is definitely the 1981 60 E. Thank you much

I am guessing that there is a letter between the 675 and the 309507.

Why the reluctance to post that vital information?

Yamaha data shows it to be a 1980 model year motor.
