Fuse?

What size in line fuse is needed from starter solenoid to switch? someone (PO?) Put a 14 amp in there and the holder is gapped open allowing moisture in. The next smaller size I find is a 9 amp and even it is pretty long 7.5 is the same length as the 9amp. just wondering what everyone else has discovered. 90 HP 1986 Evinrude v4. I could splice a flat fuse in if I knew the size it should be

Thanks ordered 3 never seen a 20 amp fuse that tiny. Wonder the purpose of not using the standard length 20 or even a flat 20

"Because that's the way we always did it" comes to mind. Seriously, that fuse dates way back. I suppose at one time, different physical lengths prevented installing the wrong fuse and over-fusing a circuit.

I do remember back in 1957 two different length fuses were used by Evinrude & Johnson in their junction boxes for their generator kits for 35hp outboards.
