2002 125 EXLPTO. I am having the hardest time trying to change the impeller. I can not get the lower unit to even budge. I have removed all 5 nuts. I have tried just about everything chemically to get it down it won’t move an inch. Am I missing a bolt somewhere ? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

If it's a salt water engine, there maybe salt impacted between the housing and the studs. Quite common down here in Florida. Best to try mapp gas torch and try to heat the area around to expand the housing and try to get the salt to break lose. Patience is key, this can take hours to do.

It is a saltwater series motor but has only been run in a lake. The engine is very clean. I have been spraying free all and PB blaster into the area around the bolts and picking out the build up of Stuff. 1 of the 5 bolts does move but the others are pretty tight. I tried some heat and kept picking but it is still pretty tight. I am going to keep plugging away.

Post #1 says bolts are removed ??----Some of these lower units have locating dowels that may be jammed with corrosion.

There's every possibility that the driveshaft is frozen into the crankshaft especially if it hasn't been removed in a long time. The splines should be greased once in awhile.

If the splines are stuck together with the crankshaft, the best way is to pull the powerhead is with a hoist and gradually pull it apart. You will bend, break and chip the lower unit trying to beat and pry it off. The powerhead is very easy to pull and you can take your time and convince the separation slowly.
