Evinrude with low compression

" Having problems with my 1989

" Having problems with my 1989 Evinrude 225 - no spark to any of the cylinders. I checked the compression last night and found I have 75 psi on each of the top 2 cylinders on each side, and 90 psi on the bottom cylinders. I disconneted the large red plug and jumped the starter - still no spark. Will continue on to the stator and powerpack. But my quesiton is should I be concerned with the low compression readings? "

It may be that your compression tester is showing low readings.Has it been checked say against another motor.
 
Sparky - used the same tester

Sparky - used the same tester to check the compression on my Mazda - 125 psi on all cylinders. I did notice the battery was weak and the engine was not turning over very quickly. Could that have some effect? Thanks for your input.
