I realise a full rebuild , gaskets and everything else needed.. but could be a viable rebuild project?

"You should take that burnt looking side cover off for a free look at the pistons.

Would doubt it will go on some off brand and work. It has no components. If you get one with all the stuff, you may cobb something together. Remember 50 hp at the shaft is a hand full. Post a pic of what you are trying to fix and we might recognize a manufacture from some where, but pass on the evinrude."

"yep.. I see old 50-70hp outboards going for silly money, figured £50 wasn't a huge gamble.. will tear down the motor and make a plan after that.. the powerhead is on the way to picking up the engine.. so I would save on postage if I got it as well..
