Hey Guys, I have a '82 renken with a volco penta engine 270 . It was iding and all of a sudden it stopped running. I tried to restart it several times but no luck. I iinitially though it was an ignition problem. I changed the coil, spark plugs, wires, ignition, etc. Afterwards, I realized the timing belt was visibly broken. I am now trying to decide what to do. Does anyone know if I need to replace the timing belt or is there a lot more work needed? My friend told me some engines are interference motors which can bend the valves when the timing belt breaks. Do I have this type of engine? If I do, what might be damaged, the head, valves, etc? How tough is it to fix? How hard is it to change the timing belt? I am not a mechanic but am handy. Any help or comments are much appreciated. Thanks.
