This engine has not been run in 12yrs, Cleaned carb, checked spark, OK, new plug. When I try to start, pulling cord, it is very hard turning the propeller slowly even hard to pull if plug is out. I ran this engine in the 80's and don't remember having this heavy pull.Would someone please explain what is likely happening. Thank you

Did you store it with any oil in the cylinders, it could have rusted internally from sitting all these years. It is recommended to squirt a little oil in the spark plug holes then turn the engine a few times to distribute the oil before storage.

Try squirting a bit of Berrymans into the cylinder and turn it over until it loosens.
