"I have a 55HP oil injection S

"I have a 55HP oil injection Suzuki on a 15ft Savage...and a distressing problem.

I have just taken my battery out and recharged it, tried to start...just a slight sad little whirring noise. I tried the nav lights and they were working, so I took the terminals off, cleaned and reseated them; in doing so I accidentally put terminals wrong way around, (I know REALLY stupid )... then took them off and put them on correctly. Then tried again - nothing. No power anywhere. Can't get ANY power to the outboard engine or the elctricals on the boat.
I had the battery tested and it's fine. I tried another battery...same result
Although all fuses looked fine, I've replaced the 30Amp fuse near the battery and the other 2 fuses I could find upfront (15Amp); checked the dead-man switch...still nothing. Can you advise in simple terms how I might track the problem? Thanks so much

What you describe

What you describe can be caused by corrosion inside the platic coated electrical wire. This will occur just where the wire is joined to a connector, and at the battery connection is a very likely place(either +ve or -ve). Look carefully along the wires and flex them a little, if you find a point where the wire bends sharply rather than making an even curve as you flex it it could be it. If you don't find it that way use a 12V light bulb (you can even use one of your nav light bulbs) with some wire attched to it. Start by connecting the bulb across the battery to check it lights. Then test between battery -Ve and the next joint in the +ve wire and so on. What you describe would make the most likely place be bewteen the battey and the first fuse.
