"The other day we had our DT 50 out and it began to act up. Whenever we’d get into large waves, or another boats wake, the engine would bog down. For instance, we’d be going about 25 mph hit a wake and slow down to about 10 mph (not sure about RPM's doesn't have a tach). The engine would then either kick back to 25 mph on its own or stall out. I was also having trouble when running it wide open. It would go along fine for a couple minutes and then the engine would bog down. Finally, the boat stalled and would stall every time we’d put it into gear. When I got home I replaced the plugs (2nd time this year) as the ends were very charred after two outtings and sprayed some carb cleaner. Now the boat will only start with the idle lever way up and stalls after 15-20 seconds of idling. Does this sound like a carb problem? Time for a rebuild? I’ve read on this forum about idle screws, is this something I should mess with? It’s ran fine for years until now."
