HELLO FOLKS im looking at buying a carver riviera 1983 twin 305 crusaders 600hrs what should i look for in these engines are they known to have any certain issues. Also is there any kind of service/maintenance manual online for classic crusaders and what is the pros and cons for older crusaders vs mercrusiers

any info is good info
 
Same basic blocks that GM put together for both marinizers...they are basic small blocks and really don't have any major design issues.

as far as the manual, best bet is to order one from Andrew, our host here at ME.com...

Any issues with the engines in that hull are likely to be due to maintenance (or lack of)...if you aren't fluent in SBC's, best to hire a mechanic who is well versed in marine engines and pay for his/her written opinion.
