Crusader Risers and Elbows

Can you still get OEM Crusader risers and elbows? I been searching around for my CH350 (454/350hp) and only find Sierra, Barr, and Osco. I like the fact that the Crusader's came painted when I did this the last time. I looked at a set from Barr at my local marine store and was not impressed.

If so, you will have to get them from a dealer so call the local shop and ask.

I can get them at my family owned marine supply store. I was not sure if the extra money was worth it.

I got the parts I needed yesterday. I wanted all crusader but the store sold the last riser 10 minutes before me. The guy showed me a Barr 97772 riser and it was painted blue. It looked same to me except it came with 3 year warranty not a 1 year that crusader gives. One other difference it that Barr tells you not to sand the painted mating surface. And of course the cost was 35 less per. I already had the crusader elbows on counter so I didn't swap out to Barr 97924. The local shop gets them from the crusader dealer. In my area it's travelers on Long Island ny

+1 on marine parts source. I would still remove the paint from the mating surfaces. As they corrode and the paint flakes off you have a potential chance for leakage

So we sand with 220 grit by hand with a block of wood?

I use a gasket scraper to scrape the paint off then true up the surface carefully with a half round file flat across the seating surface.
