"Your fine. Those are nowhere near what mine was, and I had em on BOTH sides. Clean really well, and cover the cracks PLUS an area about an inch past. Then top coat again after it has had a chance to set up real good. Apply a heat lamp (not too hot) if you wish to help cure. When you mix the J-B, dont get in a real rush to apply it , as there is lots of time to play with it, letting it set up a bit. This helps when your trying to apply it to a vertical surface, and it keeps trying to run into the bilge. The ammount of oil you have in the bilge is nothing (in MY book only ) to worry about. Looks like you have a small leak in either the rear Pan seal, or the rear Main seal. The part that SUCKS in your adventure, is taking that Sherman Tank of a Starter off. That sucker is HEA-VY. I took mine off, and it was nearly a three-arm operation putting it back on. Label all Solenoids and wires if you, like me, have to remove them. Whatever you do, dont forget to put the SUPPRT STRAP on as you put the Starter in...I didnt, and had to remove it, and start over..LOL. Attach support strap to Starter first, loose...then put long and short bolts in, keeping them loose enough to attach support strap to the block , then tighten.
I think I should have been a Marine Mechanic !!!
If only I knew half of what some in this group have forgotten !!! Good luck, and if you want a picture of my repair, I'll share it with you.
