Chrysler Stern Drive identify model number

I just purchased a boat with a chrysler stern drive on it. Any tips on identifying a model number, where to look? Also looking for a service manual once I know what model it is. The boat was made in 1973.I'm not sure if it's the origional leg or not but the engine is a volvo b30 6 cyl

The easiest way to tell the models apart is by the side decals on the upper leg.
HA is about 71/2" x 11/2" and the HB is 71/2" x 21/2".
The HA has a removable decal on the LHS and under it is 2 bolts.
The HB has adhesive decals with 3 bolts under the LH one.
HA ID plate is on the LHS near the pivot pin.
HB ID is on the RH decal.

That year boat and engine almost must be a Volvo drive, 270 perhaps. If it's smallish and narrow that's what you got.
Plenty of parts for those from what I hear...

I agree.
Chrysler (back then) was able to coin the Volvo Penta system as a "Chrysler".
The 1.89:1 270 stern drive itself will be bullet proof.
It will also be interchangeable with the 280.

However, you may find that parts are very hard to find for the in-line 6 cylinder engine (i.e., AQ165/AQ170).

The out-of-production exhaust manifold alone can run up to several thousand dollars. (new old stock if you can find one)
I would not even consider a used one!
